Here's a sneak peek at the inspiration behind my debut children’s book - Hugo the Blackbird Gets His Red Wing – A Story of Giving and Receiving...
I originally wrote this book in elementary school as part of the Fort Wayne, Indiana Young Authors' Conference. The story was inspired by one of the many road trips my family made traveling from Indiana to Pennsylvania to visit our family. During one of these trips, I saw a red-winged blackbird sitting on a fence as our car whizzed by. I wondered how a blackbird was able to have such a distinctive, beautiful red wing. My imagination took over, and I wrote about Hugo on that same car ride.
Not long after my mom passed away last year, I recalled how much she loved this story and how my dad had shared his love of reading with me as a young girl. So, I’m dedicating this first book to them.
It will be available later this fall in both ebook and paperback on Amazon!

Huge thanks to fellow Logansport Berry D. D. Scott for the guidance and beautiful illustrations she’s provided to help bring Hugo to life. And hugs to those along my path who’ve encouraged me to keep writing. Being a published author is a long-time dream of mine, and I'm thrilled that this project has come together.
Lots of Love and Magical Wishes ~~ Sharon
